Blue Bluff Campground and Recreation
Located on Aberdeen Lake, which is a section of the waterway, the Blue Bluff Recreation area is dubbed by many as the most charming area on the waterway. The waterway is at the North of Aberdeen, featuring a day-use area and a campground. For those who were wondering, the name came from the limestone cliffs and clay that border the park in the eastern area.
It may be a campground but you’ll be pleasantly surprised by all the Class-A facilities. Featuring ninety-two sites that offer accommodations like water and electrical hookups, concrete pads, picnic lantern posts, picnic tables, fire rings, grills and a lot of shade to relax in. Of course, there are other facilities like game courts, picnic shelters, hiking trails, special access facilities and sites, laundry facilities, a swimming beach, restrooms, sewage dumping station, playground, laundry facilities, and hot showers.
Elkin Theatre
A big part of Aberdeen’s old history is the Art Nouveau-style Elkin Theater that first welcomed guests in 1937; it was known as being the finest theaters in the south, boasting the best equipment. Local citizens bought the Elkin in 1985 and subsequently founded the Aberdeen Elkin Theatre Association. The passionate volunteer groups are behind the preservation and restoration of one of Aberdeen’s grand piece of history.

Affordable entertainment and activities for people of all ages have added to the community’s quality of life. Nowadays, Elkin caters to a contemporary movie on Friday and Saturday evenings.
